About the TP-Link Tapo RV-10 Plus robot vacuum and mop

  • Dimensions: 13.5” x 3.1” (W x H)
  • Weight: 6.5 pounds
  • Suction power: 2,000 pa
  • User Manual

The Tapo RV-10 Plus is a robot vacuum-mop hybrid that comes with an auto-empty dock that can hold up to 70 days of dust and debris. We tested the vacuum power and mop function on a variety of surfaces to make sure the RV-10 Plus is worth the money.

This robot vacuum-mop hybrid has a 300 ml water tank that moistens a stick-on mop cloth. The RV-10 Plus is also compatible with the Tapo App, which allows users to schedule cleanings, check status, and set the suction level.

The RV-10 can also be controlled via voice command through smart speakers like Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

What we like

It’s good at climbing thresholds and going under furniture

At just over three inches tall, the RV-10 can more easily fit under furniture.

The RV-10 Plus stands 3.1 inches tall, shorter than most Roombas at 3.6 inches tall. Being thinner allows the RV-10 Plus to get under more obstacles, like couches, beds, and end tables.

TP-Link also designed the RV-10 to climb thresholds up to .79 inches tall. During testing, we observed this robot vacuum transition from hardwood floors to normal carpet without any issues.

We love the affordable price

The Tapo is one of the most affordable self-emptying robot vacuums we’ve ever tested.

One of our favorite things about the Tapo RV-10 Plus is its self-emptying dock. Whenever the robot finishes a vacuuming cycle, the contents of its dustbin get suctioned into a self-sealing dust bag. The bag has a four-liter volume, which translates to about 60-70 days worth of debris.

We’re a fan of self-emptying robot vacuums. They allow you to empty a robot vacuum without having to smell, see, or touch anything unpleasant.

Best of all, the Tapo RV-10 Plus is one of the most affordable self-emptying robot vacuums we’ve ever come across.

It operates quietly

The Tapo RV-10 Plus is already pretty quiet during operation. But one thing we noticed is that the app allows you to lower its noise level, and this sets it apart from other robot vacuum brands.

On its quietest setting, it runs between 53-55 dBA, depending on the floor surface. This is significantly quieter than other robot vacuum cleaners in this price range which can get up to 60-70 dBA.

You can also set the RV-10 Plus so that it doesn’t empty its dock overnight, which means it won’t disturb your sleep. Its low noise level also makes this robot more pet friendly.

What we don’t like

Its cleaning abilities fall below average

We left a few drops of chocolate syrup for the RV-10 to clean and this was the result.

When we test a robot vacuum, we put it on an obstacle course with debris for it clean up.

On average, this Tapo picked up 7.5 grams of dirt per cleaning run, which is below average. Similarly priced robot vacuums like the Eufy 11S picked up around 10 grams of dirt per run.

When it comes to cleaning pet hair, the RV-10 does OK. It missed a few tufts of hair on our obstacle course, but what it did find, it suctioned up with no issues.

It also gives middling results when it comes to its mopping prowess. Our tests show that the RV-10 Plus is designed to maintain floors, not to clean up stains and bigger messes.

What owners are saying

We tested the TP-Link Tapo RV-10 Plus pretty early in its life cycle, so there aren’t a lot of user reviews out there. On Amazon, it scores a 3.5 stars out of 5 with 48 total reviews.

Users cite liking the self-emptying dock and user-friendly app. However, others talked about how they dislike the navigation and poor cleaning performance.

During our testing, the RV-10 Plus never got stuck or lost.

Should you buy the TP-Link RV-10 Plus robot vacuum and mop?

Maybe, if you’re looking to test the waters of the robot vacuum world

If you’re on the fence about buying a robot vacuum, the TP-Link RV-10 Plus is the perfect way to dip your toe in without spending a ton of money. It has the same basic framework of features that higher-end robot vacuums do at a much lower price tag.

The RV-10 Plus and its self-emptying dock has a similar footprint to other brands so you can see how much room it takes up. And, you can test if a robot vacuum gets along well with your floor plan and pets.

However, if you’re more confident in your level of interest, we’d suggest checking out the iRobot Roomba i3+ instead, since it cleans better than this Tapo and the price is about the same.
